Speak or type a phrase you don't have yet, hear the translation out loud, and it's saved to a phrasebook that resurfaces on a spaced schedule. Their side of the conversation gets captured too, and the whole book exports to Anki, CSV, or JSON. Translation runs through free keyless providers with a fallback chain, and when every provider fails it says so rather than inventing a translation you're about to say to another person.

Orion Trajectory Display

2025

A real-time visualization tool for NASA's Trick simulation environment, built at Johnson Space Center. It streams live Orion spacecraft state off a Trick variable server and plots position, velocity, and acceleration across three plane orientations, holding a rolling 1,000-point trajectory history.

Python GUI Framework Comparison

The front end for an AI site that identifies animals from user-submitted images in real time. Most of the work went into React state management and API integration, keeping inference responsive without the UI stuttering while a model runs.

About

I'm a software engineer in Houston. I graduated from the University of Houston with a computer science degree and a minor in math, and I've spent the last few years going back and forth between building software and teaching it. This past summer I built tooling for self-hosted LLMs at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Before that I was at NASA automating simulation testing, and for two years I was a TA and SEP facilitator taking more than 950 students through operating systems, data structures, and algorithms.

Away from the keyboard I play a lot of soccer. I keep up with new tech mostly by building something small with it instead of reading about it, which is where most of my side projects come from. Music is on the entire time I work, and the records further down are the ones I keep going back to.

I'm also interested in the business side of software, not just the engineering. I like thinking through what a product would actually take to launch, what it costs, and who would pay for it, and I spend a fair amount of my own time on ventures in that direction.
